SOMATIC GRIEF SESSIONS
In the Somatic Grief Sessions held in November, participants were offered the opportunity to be with the awakened helplessness and despair generated by witnessing the genocide occurring in Palestine on one’s smartphone. This current devastation in Palestine shined a light on multiple concurrent genocides occurring in Congo, Sudan, and Tigray, as well as the Uyghurs and Rohingyas peoples in China and Burma respectively. The soul of the world is bleeding and since we are all connected via this soul, the grief is materializing in our current day as sadness, sorrow, frustration, rage, anger, resentment, hopelessness, despair, dullness, and so forth.
The Somatic Grief Sessions were structured to explore emotional and energetic hygiene, movement, breathwork, inner witnessing, communal verbal digestion, centering, envisioning, and gratitude. The space facilitated a moment of relief and respite for the journey ahead towards collective liberation.
At this time, I am gathering a roster of individuals interested in participating in future Virtual Somatic Grief Sessions. CLICK HERE to add your name to the list to be notified when the next offering materializes.
I am eager to engage in these brave and revolutionary acts of community healing, transmuting the lead of grief into the gold of individual and collective transformation. - aa

TESTIMONIALS
“All of the little deaths that take part in our lives often go unacknowledged. Creating space to grieve in minute ways expands our capacity to process the mortality of ourselves and loved ones...
Not only were these sessions beautiful containers to do just that, but they offered tools that are easily accessible in times of need. For that I am grateful. I hope that you’re able to find and create more opportunities to share experiences like these in the future. It was refreshing to be around someone with an inspiring and welcoming approach to somatic grief, and your reciprocity is appreciated :).”

“Sharing my gratitude for being a part of Aasia’s somatic grief facilitation...
The session was much needed and really helpful to sit with and move through the emotions I’ve found challenging to process.”
— L.C.
“The session, in my experience, created a safe enough and empathetic space. I found solace in the fact that my grief was acknowledged without the necessity for elaborate explanations; the burden of performance was lifted...
The absence of the need to justify my feelings fostered an atmosphere of acceptance and support, something I’ve been denying myself. I appreciate the thoughtful and considerate approach Aasia brings to these sessions. Thank you.”

On December 21, 2023, I was honored to share space with Carole Sandy of From Invisible to Visible Therapy to discuss all things grief.
The ‘Mental Health Round Table’ is a “safe space where clinicians discuss mental wellness and offer helpful insights and support,” facilitated by From Invisible to Visible Therapy, based in Toronto, Canada. I was invited by Carole Sandy, a Therapist and the Founder to discuss a complex and systemically-denied emotion that many of us are navigating with no support, resources, or general education: grief.
Our discussion spanned a variety of topics within grief, including what drives my journey of grief education dissemination, why I think “re-branding grief” is so important, the five gates of grief (as outlined by Francis Weller), what it means to embark on a journey with grief, how grief mobilizes us, working through the grief of COVID, how to navigate the depths of current grief, and some resources and practices that can help along the journey.
Big shoutout to my main resource, The Wild Edge of Sorrow by Francis Weller, which has been a formidable companion on the journey of my own grief processing and a source of so much grief education that I reference to disseminate my learnings. And so much love to Carole Sandy for giving me this opportunity to share what I feel is pivotal, transformational, and life-changing discourse.
If you want a shared space to process your grief, feel free to schedule an unearthing call with me here.
