The principle of Even Breath emphasizes the importance of leveling the inhale and exhale. Not only does our breath cycle indicate whether we’ve gone too far in a posture or if we’re not appropriately utilizing the abdominal musculature to support a full inhalation/exhalation, but it also reveals our state of mind. Running out of breath to keep up with a class, or even life, suggests a dysregulation with one’s self and capacities. Even breath offers a route back to the present and your dignity.
