Principle 6 - Orient From the Seat of Your Soul

The principle of Orienting from the Seat of Your Soul was offered to me by a teacher named Lara Warren. The ‘seat of your soul’ is the center of your chest and can be illustrated as a candle with a small flame lit. Whatever do we in the world and on the mat, keeping the flame lit is the utmost priority. This part of the body in asana practice allows for wider and fuller breath, and more awareness of the heart space. In the world, this area is a reminder of who we are, our essence, our deepest and purest longings, and our humanity for one another. Orienting from this area of the body serves as a constant reminder, a remembering.
