Twisting/Transverse Standing Postures

In any movement, there are 3 planes: Sagittal (left/right), Coronal (front/back), and Transverse (Rotation).

This class focuses on the transverse plane of movement, also referred to as twisting postures. The primary sensations of these postures are the back leg hip coming forward via the back leg rolling forward and in and the rolling of the belly towards the twisted side. These postures include:

  • Bharadvajasana (Bharadvaja’s Twist Pose)

  • Parivrtta Trikonasana (Revolved Triangle Pose)

  • Parivrtta Parsvakonasana (Revolved Side Angle Pose)

This practice includes use of a chair to further understanding and access twisting in the rose. Which means: you can take this practice anytime, anywhere! Twisting is incredibly beneficial for your organs and their motility: the capacity for your organs to slide and differentiate from the other organs and tissues surrounding them, improving their function and vitality.

Movements starts at 2:50.
